Here at AGF, we celebrate a lot of holidays but there are a few dates that are on our calendar that we treat the same… COLLECTION REVEALS! They are here and here’s where we show you what we’ve been working so hard on for the last couple of months. We are so thankful and proud to have this opportunity to continue bringing you original designs & beautiful fabric collections. Although last year was a hard one for everyone, it was a time that allowed us to get together and work even harder! We strive on having the prettiest fabrics ...
I know you all love a good modern can print and today we have not one, but TWO!
Plus there are fabulous new arrivals from Art Gallery Fabrics and new beginner kits for those of you who are just getting started, or who want a fast and easy project.
First up we’ve got Little Forester Fusion, a collaborative collection from the Art Gallery Fabrics designers where they each contribute one of their favorite prints and it is all colored to match.
Little Forester would make a fabulous kids quilt that could work for baby through grade school. Or you ...
read moreAfter a few bright and rainbowy quilts, I definitely felt the need to work on something a bit more graphic. Enter City Tiles. The pattern is by Quilty Love, and the fabrics are all from Art Gallery Fabrics, though different collections.
The combination of fabric and the name of this pattern has a very urban, geometric feel to it, so I wanted to see if I can make the quilting also very urban and geometric. I decided not to incorporate a single swirl, and instead make the entire quilt with dot-to-dot designs and dense lines. I adore the way those ... read moreHello my fellow makers!
Today we will talk about the Flat Felled Seam, a seam that lays flat on the right and wrong sides of your project. It is famously known for its strength and beauty. You can find it in your daily life on the sides of your jeans, in men’s shirts, and even in outdoor gear like camping tents. Also, you can find it in a more sacred place like the Pojagi patchwork, a Korean artform that uses improvisational piecing joined by hand sewn flat felled seams. Pojagi pieces are used to wrap special presents, protect sacred ...
Hello, my fellow makers,
Today I want to take you on my journey of making a quilted hat. Like most of my design stories, it started with scrolling over Pinterest and Instagram. For some reason, I was always drawn to the images of summery and beautiful hats with big brims. When the soft and feminine Rosewood collection came out, I decided to look for a bucket hat tutorial and jump into the adventure. I realized that I could just use my love for improv piecing and the Dresden technique to replace the small brim of the tutorial for a big ...
Hello my fellow makers!
It has been a while since my last post, I missed so much connecting with you! To make a good come back I decided to co-design a wall art with my little one, Carlota. She loves to participate in my projects, and I love to keep her busy and motivated with creative tasks.
When she showed me her drawing of a rainbow that is also a sun to bring joy and happiness to our lives, I decided to use the bias tape appliqué technique to translate her idea into our quilty project. Today we will talk ...
When I'm about halfway done machine quilting a quilt, I start thinking about what quilt top to quilt next. While I was quilting Color Pop, a slew of candidates came to mind. So I was very surprised that when I went to my rather alarmingly large stash of quilt tops, I pulled out Swoon. It was not even on the candidate list!
But it was calling to me, asking to be quilted, while some of my other quilt tops seem rather reluctant to leave the shelf. Swoon is a pretty new quilt top for me, as it's only ...
read morePossibly the most exciting but simultaneously the most stressful part of making a quilt for me is fabric selection. Out of the quilts I've made, if I messed up somewhere, that was almost always where I messed up. That's why I love to buy kits.
But once in awhile, I get an idea to marry a quilt pattern with a fabric collection in my stash, and I get so excited about it that I drop everything else. That happened to me when I envisioned Camille Roskelley's Swoon quilt in Katarina Roccella's Mediterraneo collection.
Mediterraneo features amazing ...
