Quilt Block Mania Month 1 is here… from Seams To Be Sew

Quilt Block Mania starts today and is the idea of Carolina Moore. She belongs to a design group I’m in on Facebook and thought it would be fun to create a theme each month and then release that block free to our quilting friends. The theme for July is Summer Fun. All blocks are 12-inches, and they fit in a certain color scheme. I tried, but I know me and I still went into deeper colors versus light colors. The above are the colors we had to try and keep our blocks to. While mine aren’t exactly there ...

It makes it hard to get things done but the one thing we all have in common is sewing and quilting. So, let’s pick ourselves up and start a new project. Smile even when you don’t feel like doing so, say hi, and pray for peace in the world again. June was a ...

Stitching Sunshine BlogHop… Here Today at Seams To Be Sew… from Seams To Be Sew

First, let me apologize for being very late this morning. I’ve only just gotten home last night from a family emergency, and am just now getting this post written.  A HUGE thank you to Carla at Creatin’ In The Sticks for creating this fun blog hoop featuring the color yellow. As a child my favorite color was yellow, when my parents moved into a new house when I was 12 or so, I got to pick my bedroom color and I chose a bright yellow. In fabric, finding good yellow in prints is very difficult imho. It’s always ...

Spring Cleaning… from Seams To Be Sew

I didn’t need to do too much to clean my sewing room. While I’m not a sloppy person I don’t let little things bother me either… I also am not someone who just throws things around, when I’m done working with a project everything gets put back into place when I am working on something it’s stored in a little bin by my machines or cutting areas. I’m currently working on two blocks of the month projects, so those parts are hanging about my sewing and cutting areas. A few years ago I did ...

Quilt Qwazy Queens Hop, 2020, and More… from Seams To Be Sew

Today is the start of the hop which represents all of us with Worldwide Quilting Day right around the corner this Saturday… Did you know that March is National Quilting Month? I did not know this until just a few days ago… I was amazed because I know September is National Sewing Month and I had the impression that quilting was just included in that. So it was a surprise to me to find out this is also National Quilting Month. Quilt Qwazy Queens is a 5-year-old hop as of this year, that I hosted for the first four years ...

Color It Red…. Day 04 is here at Seams To Be Sew Today… from Seams To Be Sew

When I join a blog hop I like it to do something that challenges me. That hasn’t always been how it’s worked out, but for the most part I like to do things I haven’t done before or try new techniques that interest me. For as long as I can remember I have had a love for Sashiko. Back in the ’90s at a quilt show, I saw this absolutely gorgeous quilt that I just fell in love with. While I’m not a blue person, her quilt was dark blue and used a white thread. I ...

Yes It’s Time For …. Row Along Signups for the 6th Year… from Seams To Be Sew

Each year that goes by, I think to myself, it seems so early to do signups for an event that isn’t even going to start for another 8 months. At the same time, it does take time to get your ideas in place, draw your pattern, create the pattern, then sew the test pattern out. Are you curious about this year’s theme? The picture says it all, but the theme this year is based on gardens of all types… Thus we are having a garden party and everyone is invited. Today is your chance to sign up for ...

I’m having some Winter Blues….. from Seams To Be Sew

I am definitely blue if there is no snow on the ground during Winter… I love love love snow as some of you know from my postings on my Facebook personal page. I often post pictures when we get snow and we’ve now been weeks without some snow, even a hint of it…. nada… We had such a good start to Winter with 4 or 5 snow storms between October and November but then.. BOOM, they just went away… I’ve never been a fan of the color blue, it does remind me of being down and sad… However ...

New Year Coming, New Events Coming… from Seams To Be Sew

Hi Everyone, and Welcome to almost 2020… What an amazing time this is? We are moving into a new decade, and everything is new again with a new year. I love approaching a new decade, I must admit that I think a new decade brings many great things to look forward to. We can ask ourselves, what’s the latest technology going to be? Just as pc’s and desktops became popular in the ’90s, and cell phoneitis hit the 2000 era, and shopping online has been a major thing now since 2010… All of these things gave us new ...
