Cutting corners from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Can you believe the change in the weather? It's positively gorgeous outside. I almost feel like getting out the lawn chairs! OK - it's not that warm, but compared to what we had last week, this is amazing.

Today is my parents anniversary. Oh my - it's their 65th anniversary. Yikes - I didn't realize that it was a milestone. Oh dear - good thing I figured that out before I called them. The day of their wedding - the temperature soared into the 50's F and water was running everywhere. Hm - a magic date?? I doubt it - just a ...

I did it Again from Stitchin at Home

Another month slips by and I wonder where did it go, what if anything did I get done. Rest assured I have been busy doing a few things. First up a secret sewing project took up most of my attention and time, more about that in the new year. Wow talking about the new year already. Slow down I need to get through the rest of this year first, and there may be a big holiday in there too.

No homemade gifts this year my wonderful  NOT machine is again in for repairs. I am ready to give up on ...

Sit n Sew day from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

So.......   did you shop yourself silly yesterday? It was Black Friday after all. Or should I say that it was just one more day to shop in the madness that now appears to be Black Friweek! The sales are getting ridiculous and who needs all that stuff anyway? I was at the computer for most of the day and the number of e-mails regarding Black Friday sales was crazy. Buy this! Save this! Only four hours left! Nuts - totally nuts. Did I buy anything? I went the entire day without buying something until I was at Oh Look Fabric last ...

Motivational Monday update (or not) from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

I'd like to say that I have lots of pictures of stuff that I've done to show you, but I don't. I do have pictures, but no finished show n tell.

I did get the top and back done for the magazine quilt and it's hanging on the long arm waiting to be loaded later today. That was good.

I got something done for the upcoming QUILTsocial blog and all the pictures are taken and need to be loaded to the internet. That was good.

But I can't share them with you yet.

However, I ...

Update on Projects and OMG from MMM Quilts

As you know by now, I really enjoy sharing with you 'the process', and reading about that very thing on others' blogs. Here are some of my ongoing projects, as well as my OMG for September, which is this quilt in progress:

Please note: these are all reds: shades, tints, hues, so they go from bright red, to burgundies to pinks, corals
...which I hope to have the centre section complete (that's 156 6" blocks with sashing and cornerstones) by the end of the month. I'm putting them together in the order in which they were released, with ...

Un Mélange from MMM Quilts

That's French for a mixture. Kind of what I've been doing for the past week and a bit. Things have been a bit quiet on the blog; I actually had thought to take a break after the Plus Playtime QAL finished, but I am still here. Might take that break in August but I'll let you know. Allow me to show you the mélange of sewing I've been doing.

And just like that............. from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

I'm leaving tomorrow for a week. And it's always the same before I leave. How much can I get done before I go? Things that should have been done before, now become a priority when they could probably wait until I get back.

BTW - I love my new keyboard. Just saying!!!

Already been to the gym and did 30K on the spin bike. There is NOTHING better than doing a hard workout, sitting in the steam room just relaxing and then having a shower. I'm pumped and ready to tackle anything today. Since it was there, I ...

The things I learn from others.............. from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

OK - I want Peggy to come and live at my house! She knows a TON of stuff. How does she know all that she knows?  Remember I talked about those flyers in my mailbox - three for the SAME condo complex???  Apparently, I can chat with the mail delivery person and they can affix a sticker inside my mailbox so they don't leave that junk mail stuff inside my mailbox.  Wow - really???  OK - I'm going to watch for the mail today and see if I can have a chat with them. Thanks, Peggy!!!!  I wonder what other wonderful tips ...

It was one of those days!!! from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

I'm running short on time this morning. I've already resigned to the fact that I'll be late for Monday sewing. That has NEVER happened before. But this morning, I HAD to get some paperwork done. I had goofed around on the weekend and didn't get it finished and it just HAD to be done by this morning. I'm happy to report that one of the patterns has been sent in for approval. It's funny how we procrastinate on stuff like that. I know how to write patterns - I could practically write them in my ...

What we did at the sit n sew! from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Sit n sews are the best days ever! It's a day of great conversations, loads of laughs, inspiration, creativity, and we get a bit of work done as well. It's time spent with friends and that's what life is all about!

While I wasn't as productive as I would have hoped, I still got things accomplished.

I started the day off by sewing the backing together for a quilt. I also made the binding. This project has been added to the "to be quilted" pile. That pile is getting higher and higher. I'm trying to ...

Motivational Monday from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

It's interesting how non-quilting family members FREQUENTLY ask the quilters in their family "how many more quilts do you (we) need?"  What's interesting is that if the quilter in the family didn't quilt, what would they do all day?  Seriously??  I was up early this morning because I went to bed really early last night. What did I do? I sewed of course! But what would I have done if I wasn't a quilter? I'm certainly not cleaning my house.

My response when people mention this obsession with quilting? This is our hobby, it's ...

Motivational Monday update from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Thank goodness for Monday sewing. I don't seem to be getting any personal sewing done EXCEPT on Monday. Which means that I'm way behind. But baby steps and based on my post from yesterday, there's no race. There's no deadline for most of what I'm working on. So what's the rush? It'll get done and what doesn't - well, I'd better at least have it tidied up! And I'm working on that. Old UFOs - one by one will be conquered this year. My goal is still to complete the UFOs from ...

Living on the edge from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Not that I'm happy to see a month zip past, but I'm glad that April is over. There was a lot happening in April and now it's May. A much quieter month - thank goodness. I've got loads to catch up on and now that the weather is nice, it would be great to spend some time outdoors.

When I go to Monday sewing, I usually have a number of projects in my bag and half of them I never touch. So yesterday I went with two projects - my weekly 6 blocks for the 150 Canadian Women ...

Monday Sewing from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

I'm glad we all stayed home yesterday. It was wet, it was cold and it's just plain ugly out there.

I did shovel the step off in anticipation of the UPS delivery. I knew the box would be big and heavy and didn't want anyone slipping down the steps. It wasn't that bad to shovel but took several attempts before I got all the snow and ice off the step. Didn't bother with the sidewalk or the drive - hopefully, it'll all be melted soon.

I do need to get out today - I have several ...

Let's try that one more time.......... from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

You know how it is. Sometimes we struggle to get things done either because of time constraints or actually scheduling the event or we don't want to do it. We would hope that when you get something done that it's done! This week has been a tad challenging and today I get to fix things!

My car needed a wee bit of repair so I took the car in last week to get it fixed. I was happy that they could fit me in so quickly and it barely cost anything to do the repair. However, when I ...

Dream BIG!!!! from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

I can't help it!  I'm a dreamer! I suffer from delusional doability! But you can't fault me for having goals!  I just need a wee bit more focus. However, I don't think I need to really get on my own case because while I'm not super focused, I'm way more focused than I ever was and I'm allowed a wee bit of deviation now and then. And I'm finishing projects left and right!

Let me just interject a quick sentence here about my food. I struggled to eat enough calories yesterday. What ...

I survived Easter brunch from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

No, this blog is not going to focus on food. I'll briefly tell you about my brunch experience and then we're back to quilting!

So there's this huge spread of buffet tables. A seafood and fancy meats (I'll pass on that one), an omelet table (yes), salads (hmm, none of them look low fat at all - pass), the veggies - yes, the pasta table - pass, the meat table - yes, the dessert table - of course - YES!!!  In all, I had one omelet with some bacon, ham, a wee bit of salmon, some green beans, potatoes, fruit and three ...

I'm FREE!!! from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

If you didn't get a chance to go to the Etobicoke Quilt Show yesterday, then you had better get to the show today (Saturday).  I went yesterday and it was so nice to see so many quilters out. The show seemed to have great attendance even late in the day when I was still there. I met so many people and chatted up a storm - I almost didn't have time to see the quilts.

But I did and oh boy - there are some great quilts. I got a few machine quilting ideas, I got a few ideas for ...
