This past weekend there was an estate sale two blocks over. I'd walked past the house many times,. I popped in Friday morning (before leaving for the AAUW convention). Wow. The estate sale personnel said the people had lived there 50+ years but had not occupied the house recently. 1960's decor never updated. The basement had boxes and boxes and boxes and boxes of fabric, nearly all polyester double knit. I didn't have time to dig through everything but there was some cotton yardage and I grabbed it.

But it’s high time we tackled another one, so here we are today . . .
I gave us two choices last time, and I’ve been working on both of those pretty steadily. I think I now have my bookcase cleaned out enough that all the books and magazines I’m keeping will all fit in there — possibly with a bit of room to spare! (Because as I finish moving, I’ll probably find several random ones stashed in other ...

My most recent quilt finish is Seasons in the Sun, my entry for the Pantone Quilt Challenge this year. In case this challenge is new to you, Pantone chooses a color of the year ever year, this year it is Peach Fuzz. Not really a favorite color of mine, but when you combine it with shades of teal and aqua anything ...
read moreTo say that I am pleased with the finished quilt is an understatement. The challenge of getting the varying shades of purple to "play well together" was a little intimidating, but one that I rose to conquer. The sashing strips, cornerstones, borders and binding supervised any clashing that may have been there.
I could go on with more thoughts, but I'll just keep it short and sweet and get right to this week's Sew & Tell feature... Deb was getting ready ...
I completed the Tulip Bench Pillow top

It's the 4th Wednesday, which means lunch with the teachers. A couple of retired teachers that I used to work with, one's wife, and Ralph. We look forward to seeing them every month.
It's overcast, so maybe more April showers later today.
Good morning, my friends it's a misty morning here in Eddyville. It's been a while since we saw fog like this. This is what I see through the window as I write.

This was probably my least favorite book in the series ao far. More is revealed about Fiona the fairy and her life beyond Courtney's garden and Carmel-by-the-Sea, which I enjoyed. Fiona is as spunky as ever, but she's maturing a bit and learning some self control There's a whole lot going on with the murder investigation but I never quite got caught up in the plot, unlike the second book which managed to hold my interest with pickleball, of all things.

You know by now how these things get started: someone gives me something. In this case, as part of a larger bundle of possibilities, there were three matching 6-1/2″ applique hearts. Much too cute to trash. I did consider pot holders, or a table runner, or a banner. But what they wanted to be was a baby quilt.
I had a little bundle of fat eights that “happened” to match perfectly. I love it when that happens. All that was needed was some background fabric and something to make centers for 6-1/2″ star blocks. I really wanted to ...
read moreYesterday I trimmed my Charley in the Forest quilt. Then it was time to search for a binding. I thought I wanted red but most of the reds were more of a pink tone and most of the fabrics on the front are a red/orange.
After auditioning several Kaffe collective fabrics, this one seems the best. It is also used on the front of the quilt. In the photo above it is the background of the tree at the left. I will look again today to see if I can find anything else that works.
This simulates how it ... read more
