Monday Make - Quilters' tote from Just Sew Sue

My Quilter's Tote by Zeriano has been getting a lot of love recently so I'm planning to make two for friend's birthdays. I think I'll give them as an unbirthday gift when we next meet for lunch. I pieced the side panels for one bag at Modern Quilt Club Retreat so didn't expect for it to take long to finish the project.

Yesterday I pieced the panels for the second bag with the plan to quilt all four panels at once on my long arm. Quilting them all together using a leftover piece of backing ...

The second quilt where Waffle Weave was used as backing, this one too worked equally well.  Here, however, I did custom quilting with plenty of detail.

Netting & Binding from Quilts....etc.

Inside and outside – it was a beautiful day but quite warm by mid afternoon.  I got all the binding cut for a rainbow binding for the Hunter’s Star but I still need to press it and sew it on today – then I can finally get back to the RSC quilts – two to […]

What I’m Working… from Jo's Country Junction

Well friends…I hate to say it, but ZERO sewing happened this week. It has happened about 10 times since I started blogging and this week marks one of those rare weeks. So what kept me away from the sewing machine? Life. Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday were all work days. I leave for work at 6:15 …

Vesta has begun, Scrub Stitchin' Challenge mid-month check-in, and mystery progress from Dreamworthy Quilts

Vesta Row of the Month by Julia Wachs Designs.

Here is a mock up of what it could look like.

I am adding in a little more dark green, so it could go a little more this route.

These are the colors I had in my stash for the Vesta quilt. I actually only paid $4.50 a yard for them on sale at a retreat in Delta.  There is a beautiful border print that goes with them.

These are my five blocks almost done.  There is one more unit that needs to be added to the blocks to make ...

Will I see You in Paducah? from Christa Quilts

Later this month I’m stoked to be heading out to teach at AQS quilt week in Paducah Kentucky. As of this writing, 2 of my workshops have sold out, but there are still a few spots left in my 3 workshops below along with my lecture. If you haven’t yet registered, it’s not too late.

Click here for AQS workshop descriptions, supply lists and registration info.

This has been a bucket list event for me, ever since I won a ribbon at the show for my quilt Facets way back in 2016!

This was the first quilt ...

A Day At A Time from Quilting My Way

This morning Patrick woke me early. So, I was up and ready to go. I enjoyed an hour before taking my shower.

Then I played some games. I felt good, till I took my meds and then my bp came down. That's not fun. We did get our walk in before having to leave to the playhouse. I wasn't feeling up to it most of the day. We went to see the play "Noise, Off" and it was really good. Patrick paid for mom, Nancy, brother Patrick, Christine, and us. It was really good and I laughed through ...

Sunday Funday Quilting and a Fun New Notion from Allen Quilts

I didn’t get too very much accomplished, but I did get the blocks for my great niece’s quilt all laid out and ready to stitch together. It’s another Strip Mirage, (pattern from Sew Yeah Quilting) and I used a jelly roll I have had in my stash for quite a long time. A little bonus… Continue reading Sunday Funday Quilting and a Fun New Notion

Sunday . . This & That! from Patchwork Times by Judy Laquidara

After lunch I went out and worked in the greenhouse. I had planted Black Krim tomato and Salvatore tomato seeds. I’ve also planted a couple more slicing/eating tomatoes and one other paste tomato. Black Krim is an eating tomato and Salvatore is a paste tomato. Juliet is the other paste tomato I’m growing this year....

Week 14 Nikki's Stocking Progress. from mequilter

So, last Sunday I was stitching and I noticed that the stitching I had done on Saturday had an error in it.
I couldn't figure out a way to fix it, so you know what that means. Time to do the frog stitch, rip it, rip it.

I made my mistake by coming down the right side instead of coming down the center. So, when I went to do the left side it didn't line up.

Here is that blue area all fixed.

I didn't do any stitching after Tuesday since that was surgery day.
I was ...

Floral Wedding OP 51, 52 from Virtual Quilter

Oh, so pretty! Oh, so many tiny flowers to applique, though perhaps they could be embroidered, by hand or machine. The machine sounds like a good option!

If it was to be a real wedding quilt the block spaces could be used for wedding guests to sign, along with details of the wedding party and immediate family.

Week 15 of 2024 from Thread Head

Mainly knitting this week, but I did press and trim more of the blocks that at sew at a monthly makers get together -

Now there are 54 Broken Dishes blocks (I need 218 total now because I decided to make a smaller quilt).
I finished spinning the fibre batt that I made from a local wool and our dog's fur.
79g of worsted weight tweed Chiengora yarn.
And knit a hat with it - a very quick knit. This one is for my son - Molly is his dog.
I am amazed how soft the yarn turned out, and the hat ...

Houston, we have a problem… from Quilting Studio Adventures

These are all recently-finished quilt tops.  And I want to hand quilt each of them.  But it’s getting warm - not the time of the year to be sitting under quilts as I stitch.

This old yellow and black top is odd.  I like it, but I’m not sure who else will.  I’m thinking grandson Sam is ready for a new quilt.  Maybe he’ll like it.

This quilt features a lot of Seth Apter fabrics.  And i love this pattern.  There’s enough of the background fabric to back it with.  But I’m not sure.  Tbd ...

Free EPP Templates from Adventurous Quilter

I'm almost finished my first ever EPP quilt!

So I thought it was time to share my hexagon template

It's now free to download from my website!

My Download Website

I am just using precut scraps for EPP, so this hexagon size was designed especially for use with 3" scrappy squares.

That's right, you don't need to cut them into hexagons! Just go ahead and use the squares. The excess would end up in the scrap bin usually but this way it's included ...

The Page Was Just Missing Something. from mequilter

About two nights after I finished this page I was thinking about while preparing to go to sleep. And I realized it was just missing something. It looks plain and unbalanced.

So I placed around with some ideas.

I added some more paper to the center of the oval and some decorations on the edges of the oval. Plus a funky border piece to tie the two side elements together, Better but still not right.

So, I added a third element to the right side and it is better,

The pictures seemed a little lost so I added a white ...

Slow Sunday Stitching from Eagle's Wings Quilts

I won the game of chicken I was playing between myself and the yarns for my sweater. I finished the body and the short sleeves with just the smallest little balls left of each colour. Whew!! I have one more round of the green to do on the second sleeve and the I can go and start to pick up the stitches around the bottom of the sweater for the green contrast band. Maybe after this sweater is done I’ll go back to my cross stitching. Or maybe, since I’ve enjoyed doing this sweater so much, I’ll ...

Sleepy Dogs from Patchwork Times by Judy Laquidara

I know there are a lot of dog posts on here lately but they are a huge part of my life and, other than an hour or so in the garden, a bit of cooking, these days my time is mostly spent with the dogs and Boots. Yesterday was the “sit and stitch” day at...
