It's been a couple of weeks again since I posted last. We have been incredibly busy with our upcoming kitchen renovation. All of a sudden it was all go, go go...we have been running around literally the whole week looking at appliances, getting things organised and life in general.
Karen B is a newer quilting finisher who has volunteered to join the group. You’re in for a treat as she does wonderful work. Here are three of her finishes. Karen writes: “Hello Everyone! It’s been a bit since I had things to share. Family life has been a bit more important. But, I’m back …

read moreThis is my version of "Sunlight in the Forest", a quilt in Kaffe Fassett's "Quilts in Sweden" book. I used my own choice of fabrics but used the same inner border fabric as the original quilt.
I used Hobbs 80/20 batting and it was quilted by longarmer Robin Diaz.
It is 67.5" x 87".
Here is a photo from a 2018 post showing the quilt in the book. (click on the photo for a closer view.) I finished making the quilt top in June 2018.
I used 2 fabrics on the back because I didn't have ... read more
A little work got done on the New York Beauty borders – one border is now finished and 3 to go. I took it outside seeing as it wasn’t windy so I could lay it out for photo – I have had it folded on the wall so it hasn’t been displayed in forever. I […]

I’m thrilled with how the Turquoise version of my Ticker Tape quilt turned out.

I really enjoyed quilting it densely with combination of designs that are easy to do with a walking foot: decorative stitches combined with wavy lines. Don’t you love all this yummy texture?
To see how I accomplished this, plus a completely different design that I did on the navy version, click below to watch my latest video tutorial over on my Christa Quilts YouTube channel:

read moreWelcome to Needle and Thread Thursday, y'all. I wasn't kidding when I said last week that I love yard work so much that I even help my friends. After two exceptionally hard winters, two of my very good friends are doing lots of reevaluating what plants are actually hardy enough for this area, and lots of replanting. And yep! You guessed it. I've been to the nursery and right there digging holes with each of them this week.
Last week's party had lots to ogle though! I love this sweet quilt from Susan at Patchwork n ...

read moreSighhhh.... While I was quilting I ran my finger, somehow, under the needle. Went right through my left index fingernail right through to the other side. I yelled and jerked my hand back and broke the needle. It didn't break the bone. Just came out at an angle on the other side. Blood! After I cleaned up and doctored it, I left the sewing room for three days.

read moreWell, after being down with a bad headache all day yesterday, I felt much better today and made up for lost time. I even had to keep my two youngest grandsons from 3:45 yesterday afternoon until their parents and older brother got home from his track meet last night. I’m usually a pretty fun grandma,… Continue reading Whirlwind Wednesday

Having heart surgery isn't all that fun. There are ups and downs with going through "grief" at times. I don't know if I'm there yet, but I do know I am moody at times. More in the direction of "let's get done with this!" I'm not in the "poor me" stage. I don't see any need to be there.
Patrick needed gas in the truck and ...
read moreMy Chookshed Challenge for March, number four on the list, has been completed. Some of the participants had chosen to work on a panel for their number four, and I was happy to do this as well, as I had a couple of panels waiting for me in a bag. I chose to work on my wild horses panel, and mid way through the month I had added borders simple borders.

The colour combination in this project file will always look good … with the block designs hopefully adding to the effect.
I think I like the second design best, though that opinion could change after a coffee, or tomorrow morning when I open up to add another couple of quilt designs.
