Jean Circle Quilt from Magpie Quilts

This pattern is a fav of mine and as my pile of worn out jeans piled up, I put aside a layer cake bundle (10' squares from the same fabric line) to use as the centers.

There's a bunch of tutorials and patterns online, but I used the pattern Forever in Blue Jeans by Fons and Porter available at Quilting  Daily. I often get asked about the dimensions for this quilt, but I encourage quilters to purchase the pattern from the designer.
I decided to sew the cotton fabric, batting and jeans together with an X before sewing the ...

Sew & Tell ~ April 22, 2024 ~ Pieces in Purple from Melva Loves Scraps

It's Done! It's DONE!

Ta-da!!! The purple Pieces of My Life is done... label and all.

To say that I am pleased with the finished quilt is an understatement. The challenge of getting the varying shades of purple to "play well together" was a little intimidating, but one that I rose to conquer.  The sashing strips, cornerstones, borders and binding supervised any clashing that may have been there.

I could go on with more thoughts, but I'll just keep it short and sweet and get right to this week's Sew & Tell feature... Deb was getting ready ...

Free Patterns, Surprising Beauty Product, Tiny 9 Patches, Peanut Butter Balls from Canadian Needle Nana

Tony's breakfast...Beth's homemade bread, one slice with peanut butter and the other with marmalade.

He gets a subscription to Down Home, a Newfoundland magazine, every year for his birthday. He enjoys reading it and doing the puzzle pages. I like to check the recipes. Here's one recently that brought back memories...a very popular sweet back home, Chocolate Peanut Butter Balls. Simple ingredients. Would these be popular where you are??
My Sunday slow stitching was finishing these EPP tiny 3 inch 9 patch blocks. I'd put aside a few yellowish scraps when I was sorting ...

One more fabric............ from Exuberant Color

I found another Kaffe print in the same red/orange as the button fabric for a possible choice for binding. I have to check all around the edge and make sure that fabric wasn't used in an edge block.

I spent all morning yesterday sorting my brown/rust/gold fabrics.  They had been displaced when I started moving things around in the basement.  I love the rich earthy tones but they don't seem to be very popular with most people.  These fabrics were formerly on a shelf unit where my black and whites reside now.  I can move ...

Stars All Around from Humble Quilts

These little stars are smaller than the first ones I made. Oh my goodness! That one on the left is hilarious! But it is primitive and I think once it is in a quilt it was be as noticeable to me. These are the 3 I managed to get together before leaving for Paducah. Once i have 3 more, I'll be read to start assembling the quilt center!

Nobody wanted the book so I guess I'll throw it away.  See the details HERE.
The book has found a home!

I'll be at the Paducah show today! email ...

A Day of Rest from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. We had a day off yesterday. It was a day off except for going to the grocery store. Fortunately our list was short. The grocery store here was so small we were only able to get about half of the items on our list. They didn't have "exotic" things like radishes, and so we'll do a little more grocery shopping in Paducah today. Oh yes, and did I say Paducah? Yes, today is quilt show day. I've been looking forward to attending the quilt show in Paducah for about 16 years...as long ...

Barn Star Sampler Update from Allen Quilts

I finished two more of the 24” blocks for the Barn Star Sampler I’m making. This block was pretty fun to make. I didn’t have to use the seam ripper near as much as I did on the last block. After I finished them, I took all the blocks I have so far and laid… Continue reading Barn Star Sampler Update

Vintage Lonestar from Night Owl Quilting

Cynthia brought this vintage top that was made by her great grandmother.  She decided it was time to get it finished and enjoyed instead of hiding in the closet.  It was my pleasure to work on this family treasure.

We decided on some light custom quilting.  Continuous curves in the star diamonds and free flowing open feathers in the background.

I'm sure that the background fabric was flour sacks and it has a feeling that just can't be replicated.

Cynthia opted to have Marion bind her quilt using the same fabric she used on the back.  This modern ...

My Junking Day Outing! from Quiltville's Quips & Snips!

Artifacts from Tuesday's Getaway Day!

When Debbie's Bitter Bees group left on Sunday - giving me the rest of that day and Monday to tackle laundry and getting things ready for Nola's Bonniacs to arrive - I suddenly saw a break in my schedule - Tuesday was completely empty and I could do with it what I wanted.

What did I want?  Did I really REALLY want?

A junking day!

Stitching Stuff: Week 16 of 2024 from Life In Pieces

I've been a bit scarce on the blogging front this week.  There hasn't been much to post.  I had to stop the anti-inflammatories a week before surgery and it hurt to move without the medication. So other than handwork, there wasn't much stitching stuff going on with me.  Surgery was on Friday. Whatever they gave me during surgery worked till Saturday morning.  When it wore off, my whole lower leg hurts now.  I started the pain medication about noon yesterday.  If you see any errors below, that may be a factor.

I only made it up to ...

Another “If You Give a Mouse a Cookie” Day from Patchwork Times by Judy Laquidara

Yesterday I was going to get “No Bees, No Honey” kitted. I knew I didn’t have all the called for Gentle Arts floss and I figured that was a good time to match up some Victorian Motto floss and use that. I have ordered quite a bit of floss from them through the years and...

A digital hoarder from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

OH --- so I perhaps found part of the issue with my email. Someone had mentioned it before, and someone mentioned it in the comments the other day.

I don't have the pictures to share with you this morning, but here's what happened. I did a disk cleanup -- somewhere on my computer, I found that, and it cleared up maybe one GB. That's nothing -- I need gobs of space.

So, I went into the SENT folder in my email. Hmmm  --- I figured out how to sort them by size and got a chuckle. The first category that came ...

RBD24 - block #13 and This 'n That from My Sewing Room

Yesterday I was wide awake and out of bed at 5:30.  That gave me a lot of quiet sewing time in the morning, before I left for a 10:30 coffee/lunch date with a group of retired staff from the school I taught at.  Guess I should get up that early every day.

Garden Patch by Minky Kim is block #13 out of 16 in the 2024 RBD (Riley Blake) challenge.  This was sure quick and easy to make.  And if the corner HSTs are turned the other direction this block has a whole different look to it ...
