Progress from My Sewing Room

While my granddaughter was sewing a couple of recent days, I did some prep work on a couple of my own sewing projects. One task was prepping more of the small snowflakes (about 3") I'll be adding to my Saturday Sampler in a future month. They had to be traced onto the fusible, and then ironed onto the fabric before cutting them out. This month's assignment will be some fairly simple blocks, but I haven't started those yet.

The Marigold mystery (Meadow Mist) for August has us making 5 sawtooth stars, and 3 Dutchman's Puzzle blocks ...

Last two.................. from Exuberant Color

There was just one strip to cut yesterday to complete the stratas.

This is all 40-1/2 stratas, ready for me to decide which 16 patch to make.

I decided to look through my larger print brown fabrics to see if there was anything I would want to use for a few alternate blocks sprinkled through. This photo shows 22" top to bottom.

Stash bee BOM - every day is like Christmas from Just Sew Sue

After returning my my third hospital appointment of the week on Friday, I was delighted to receive Gill’s two blocks. They are all going to look so fabulous together.

I was on cake duty at our guild on Saturday, so I took some fabrics to cut out some flying geese units to pair with the four 6” blocks Jane has sewn for me. It didn’t take long to sew these up on Saturday evening.

Only two hospital appointments this week, one of which will be far from stress free!

Back To Trips To Olympia from Quilting My Way

This morning, I really wasn't feeling all that great. So, I really didn't do anything but play on the tablet for a bit.

Then we left around 12:30 pm to drop off 2 quilts with Colleen and then head off to Olympia for my eye appointment. What's gone wrong now! from Romany Quilting

I have to admit that I have a problem when things go wrong in the house, such as appliances, or the computer. Yes, I do tend to panic, probably because after many years of Robin tending to these sorts of blokey things, it now all falls on me. What to do, who to call? Petite Plaid quilt from Beryl the Pearl

I started this quilt a few weeks ago but hit a little bump in the road because I couldn’t seem to understand the directions. After a few videos were watched I finally got it! How stupid of me… so here is the first block, 15 more to go. Oh my so many seams to match! From a distance the lines look straight, but not really! The eye expects to see a straight line… I’ve made some ironing errors and the seams are supposed to be pressed open this is definitely a test of my patience.

Quilt News!! Piecing Experiments and Progress in 'Quilt Block Piecing Land,' Cindy Grisdela's Book Artful Improv Review.... from Crazy Victoriana

I checked Cindy Grisdela's book Artful Improv out from my local library and followed her improv circle tutorial, one block so far.

My Checkerboard small quilt 12.5 x 12.5" is finished with binding, hand quilted/tied.

Boken Dish Blocks in batiks, solids and prints.

This little art improv quilt is my current inspiration for my new projects, 15" x 15".

Six Broken Dish Blocks, each block is 5" square when finished.

I've finished more scrappy hot pads for gift giving.

Strips cut to be subcut into squares to make more Fourpatch Blocks and Broken Dish Blocks ...

een tuinshirt en een tuinbroek.

Hij heeft een grote schep.

Daarmee graaft hij een groot gat voor een plantje.

Als het gat weer dicht is, doet hij er water op.

Zodat het plantje gaat groeien.

Flower Farm Quilt Along from Brown Bird Designs Quilts

My finished quilt from the Flower Farm Quilt Along is in a bay window with an ocean view.

Last June, I said yes to a thing without really thinking it through. Kate from the Fat Quarter Shop reached out and asked if I would participate in their Flower Farm Quilt Along. Without thinking twice, I said yes.

In my head, I was thinking two blocks a month for 12 months. There are duplicate blocks in the quilt, so I thought, Awesome. I can handle that. So I ordered my fabric, got my book, and dove right into coloring the quilt. Then I looked at the schedule.

Tualatin River National Wildlife Refuge from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. It was a lovely day for a walk with Matthew yesterday. There was almost no time for sewing. But you know me...no day can start without a little slow-stitching and yesterday was no different. I took the first stitches on this final block for Le Jardin.

So Matthew texted early, and he was feeling up for a walk. When he arrived here, we drove over to the Tualatin River National Wildlife Refuge together. Tualatin...pronounced Too-WALL-uh-ton. When Mike and I first moved to Oregon, Tualatin was among the first words we learned to pronounce.

Words of Wisdom from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

And so begins another crazy week. Who was I kidding when I said August would be quiet! It's been the opposite of quiet, but I have had a few quiet moments in the gazebo, just hanging around doing jigsaw puzzles, etc.

Our weather has been so gorgeous here the last couple of days - the humidity was low, the temperature was moderate, and there was a slight breeze. I mean, what more could one possibly ask for in a summer day? The windows are open, and we're enjoying the summer!
