Mammoth Cave National Park from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. We had a beautiful day for our visit to Mammoth Cave National Park.

There’s a McDonald’s just down the road from the RV park…also a Kroger. Heck you could get just about any kind of fast food you want just a hoop and a holler from where we are. From there, we asked our Nav unit to take us to the national park. Maybe it was feeling in a good mood because it took us on a nice scenic road off the main highway. We saw some barns along the way.

Quilted and Bound from Adventurous Quilter

Basting my EPP Hexagon Quilt today was surprisingly bittersweet.
It's now time for a quick rinse:
I'm using the 'hand wash' setting
Then into the tumble dryer to get it crinkly, bubbly and snuggly!
Then it'll get hung on a quilt ladder (out of our 15 month old destructive puppy's reach) in our bedroom.

Churn Dash Quilt #5 from Quilting Is More Fun Than Housework

I was really hoping to have a second quilt to share today but I didn't get the binding sewn on in time.  My dog felt he needed to be snuggled more than he was getting.

I still had a few more of the big blue starred squares that were sent to me.  So I made a second quilt framing the smaller churn dashes with some red fabric and alternating them with the blue squares.
I really like how this layout looks.

This quilt measures 60 x 70"

Suzanne sent this blue and cream backing already sewn together.  That can ...

Stashbusters May from From My Carolina Home

It is time to check in again with our fabric purchases and completed projects. Are you on track this year? If so, great job! If not, we have many months to go to get on the side of more fabric out than in. Remember, it is fine to buy fabric now and then. This challenge just to keep us mindful to get what we need, but not go overboard.

I have not had much time to sew this past month. Between out of town trips, meetings, club events and appointments, I have not put thread into fabric for some weeks ...

FOCUS from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

It's incredible what we can accomplish when we focus. And with all the travel and so many things on the go, it's been hard to concentrate on my sewing projects.

After getting some paperwork done in the morning and the girls both had to go to the vet (ka-ching!), I was ready to buckle down to work. Something I hadn't done in weeks.

First, let's talk about the vet visit.

Both of them were extremely excited to be in the car, as they do not usually go anywhere in the car. Of course, they were happy ...

Weird, Funny and Maybe Scary Stories from Patchwork Times by Judy Laquidara

I don’t want to be one of those weird, conspiracy theory people. I can hear you now saying . . too late! You already are one of those people but things have just been weird lately. First, this isn’t lately and it’s funny. I’ve told it here before. My uncle had a Chihuahua. I can’t...

Small finishes from My Sewing Room

Pillowcases have always been one of my Go To projects. I love making them and give a lot as gifts, plus I've donated many dozen over the years.

But in 2024 these 2 are the first pillowcases I've made.  There are several more kitted up and ready to sew.  The wine bottle print on the cuffs of these was from the Big Grey Tote, and there is just enough of it left to make one of those vinyl front zippered project bags.  The parts have been cut, along with one other set, and hopefully I'll get the ...

Back from time out..................... from Exuberant Color

I was working on this Marcia Derse quilt back in January and couldn't decide on what fabric to cut into triangles to finish the edge.  The rows have been pinned on top of each other over at the side of my design wall for over 3 months.  I have a beige piece tucked into the edge here and it is a contender.

This dull gold fabric looks better.  I had decided I want a stripe so my choices are limited.  I need to figure out the size to cut the quarter square triangles and cut a few so I ...

Capital Quilters Exhibition 11-12 May 2024 from Wendy's Quilts and More

It's only one week until our exhibition!!!

It's going to be great because we have some very talented members at Capital Quilters.  I've entered seven quilts.  Yes, SEVEN.

One is a 12" x 16" challenge, so that hardly counts.

Two you've possibly seen finished here on my blog or in person.

Two others you would have seen progress photos of, but not seen them finished.

And the final two are total surprises!! These are quilts that I've completed without showing them on social media at all.  Not even my friends know about them.  And I ...

Just a little sewing from Quilts....etc.

Yesterday I was tired from Wednesdays workout with picking, cleaning and making jam from the strawberries and I didn’t do much on Thursday because I know I’m going to be busy again today maybe doing the same thing.  I was taking some photos of the rose plants and checking to see if I would need […]

Cross Stitch Update from Jo's Country Junction

I got in more cross-stitch time than normal this week. It’s been rainy here and that means I can’t do any of the stuff outside…although I did manage, with my son Karl’s help, to get all the mulch done outside. YAHOO!! One less thing to do once the weather clears up. Enough of that…onto what …

All About the Quilts On Off the Wall Friday from Creations - Quilts, Art, Whatever by Nina-Marie Sayre

A Fantasy Garden, Christine Weise/Shelley Cassatta

You know when you go to a Sewing & Quilting Expo, you are overwhelmed by the amount of things to buy and classes to take.  Well at least that was how it was for me during the recent Cleveland Expo.  It was a lot!  But tucked in the back of the Expo were rows of black curtains, filled with the most gorgeous quilts!  SAQA had shared a few exhibitions and there were also some from the North Texas Quilt Festival.  The exhibit was so stunning, I ended up going through it 3 times during ...

Back To Presenting Quilts To Veterans from Quilting My Way

This morning, I was able to sleep in a little.  Thankfully Patrick put the quilts in the car for me. I felt like I was forgetting something when I left to the museum. Debbie had just arrived as well. She wasn't staying long because she was getting ready to leave for San Diego.

We changed our dates for the next few presentations. We are doing good. We honored 7 veterans today. They were Paul Julian, Army, Philip Luhn, Army, Robert Jay, Army, Susanne Alexander, Navy, Robert Baker, Army, Shawn Downs, Army and Kevin Kuyl, Army.

I'm not sure ...

May Chookshed Challenge is #5 from Dreamworthy Quilts

Yay!  May is here and with it comes #5.  My Number 5 is the paper pieced Kiwi Birds for my Aussie/NZ memory quilt.  Many in the group actually chose to do something Kiwi (New Zealand) inspired for their #5.  I am anxious to see what shows up for everyone's projects this month.

I first saw them on zoom being modeled by Louise.  Thank you!

I have other goals for May as well.  The kiwi birds will be my One Monthly Goal because doubling up those challenges just makes sense.  I will also make a block for all of ...
