Decision made................. from Exuberant Color

I made these neutral color 16 patch blocks in 2018 and there are 174 of them.  I had been trying to decide if I should make one almost king size quilt or 2 smaller quilts.  I did some figuring (for about an hour) last night and decided on one quilt 72" x 96" and another one 56" x 72".  There will be 3 blocks left over.  Now I can start playing with layouts.  I think I'll start with the smaller one because it will fit on my design wall on the mail level.

This is a quilt top I ...

creativity this week yellow fabric scraps turn into a star, and paintings on fabric, and paper from Not Afraid of Color

this week I made the yellow feathered star block for rainbow scrap challenge... used more yellow scraps. When it was finished I noted the center yellows looked too similar so I got these out

copper paint, tested on a yellow scrap, perfect! Dab paint on with sea sponge

then went over with gold paint on the test scrap... maybe... I like stenciling a lot

these blocks are paper pieced (foundation) from this book

so stenciling was easy with the paper backing. Iron when dry makes it permanent. I also shaded that one with brown prisma color pencil

the four colors ...

Lots To Do from Quarter-Inch Capers

I’ve been busy every day trying to stay caught up. I got my county taxes done and filed. In my county, businesses are taxed every year on all the business inventory, equipment, and furnishings. It may be like that everywhere, but I don’t know.

I needed to get prizes for Monday night’s bunco, and they are supposed to be $5 prizes. Hmmm, that kind of limits what you can find that is still nice. I went to Walmart and got some hand lotion, dish towels, and these:

Aren’t they cute? Cowboy boot salt and pepper shakers ...

Mellow Yellow from Romany Quilting

It's time for a little yellow sewing - according to the RSC rules, yellow is the colour of the month.  I'm stitching several Rainbow Scrap Challenge projects, so out came the bags.  First up were the pirate blocks.  These aren't going to be done in every colour of the rainbow.  Rather, I'm picking out several colours which are featured in  the pirate fabric, and so far have done green and red.  This month is yellow, and I have light and dark blue to go, when their turn arrives.  That was easy.

Three pirate blocks

Also easy was ...

Over the last two weeks, I shared drafting umbrella blocks along with raindrop blocks (for the April Showers) part of the design.

We recorded Best Bites and just watched it (10 pm). Cooper and Oscar were asleep on my lap and I squealed when they won. Poor puppies. I scared them half to death. We went to Ghetto Tacos on Tuesday but now I want to go tomorrow. We won’t but maybe one day next week! I...

One Appointment After Another from Quilting My Way

This morning we were able to sleep in, but of course, I couldn't. I let Patrick sleep in though. Then I played on my games.

I received a call from St. Pete's regarding a referral for me to go through rehab. I chatted with the gal and said I could try it for a week, but didn't think I needed it. Around 11 am we headed back up to Olympia. Had to stop at St. Pete's to get an X-ray. The gal was awesome! She let me see my X-ray. It was interesting to see the ...

Hi, I was catching up on my blog reading when I found Yvonne's Quilting Jetgirl's First Quarter Check in party and post. It's been such a whirlwind of activity here that I thought that it would be nice to actually see what I said that I would do, and what actually happened so far! Thanks Yvonne!

Hearts for Felicity 17, 18 from Virtual Quilter

Very pretty, and in my Mum’s favourite colours. I had to ask Mum what her favourite colour was when I was going to make them a quilt, and I had never noticed a preference in what colours she wore or what colours she used to decorate the house, but pretty much all the colours she used work well with purple.

Still pretty, although a little less space for quilting to be a feature.

Lisa the Unicorn Quilt from Tamarack Shack

Maureen made this sweet unicorn quilt for her granddaughter.  The pattern is called Lisa the Unicorn by Elizabeth Hartman.  Maureen pieced the unicorn's horn out of gold lame and the head is made with velvet.

I quilted it with the Pieced of my Heart pantograph, used pink So Fine thread and Quilters Dream Blend batting.

The backing is a fun unicorn print flannel.
